Anthony Chabot Regional Park (9999 Redwood Rd, Castro Valley, CA 94546) is a 5,067-acre East Bay Regional Park spanning the hills between San Leandro, Castro Valley, and Oakland — home to Lake Chabot, 70 miles of trails, equestrian facilities, a family campground, and the Chabot Space & Science Center (10000 Skyline Blvd, Oakland, CA 94619) on its northern boundary. The park's Marciel Gate entrance off Redwood Road and the Lake Chabot Marina (17600 Lake Chabot Rd) are both popular group destinations for company picnics, youth camping trips, and school outdoor education programs. Redwood Road's single-lane sections and the marina's compact parking lot make personal-vehicle groups challenging to coordinate on busy summer weekends.
A charter bus delivers the whole group to the correct gate entrance and holds gear in the undercarriage bays for the day. The park is open daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.
